FORUM OF EAST ASIAN COUNTRIES STARTS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs G.Tenger addressed an opening of the 4th Regional Forum of East Asian countries. It kicked off on Thursday in Ulaanbaatar.


He said it is of great importance to develop the economic integration of Northeast Asia and stressed an interest and willingness of Mongolia to participate in this integration.

Themed "Mineral resources, transportation and environment", the forum has gathered some 80 scholars and researchers, NGO experts from Mongolia, Russia, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea and Germany.

At a plenary meeting of the forum, a director of the Institute of International Studies at the Academy of Sciences Dr. L.Khaisandai has delivered a report "Geopolitics of Mongolia: Security and cooperation issues".

Other reports have been given by scholars from the Northeast Asia Institute of China's Sociology Academy, the Ritsumeikan University, the Tokai University of Japan, from Russia and Germany.

The plenary meeting has been chaired by Dr. Ts.Batbayar, a board head of the Mongolian Development Studies Support center (MDSSC).

The forum has been co-organized by Mongolia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the MDSSC, the Institute of International Studies and the Sasakawa Peace Foundation.
