Small and medium-sized businesses discuss goals

The Khan-Uul district governor’s office, the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI), and the NGO Business Council jointly organized a conference for small- and medium-sized businesses on Tuesday.

About 300 people took part, discussing national policies to support businesses, and ways to improve partnerships between the state and businesses.

The Khan-Uul district has about 760 small- and medium-sized businesses. Representatives of the businesses talked about future goals and suggested ways to better support businesses in the district. Some complained that high interest rates were making it difficult to obtain loans. Some also said tax and VAT exemptions would speed business development in the country.

District officials and representatives of the MNCCI signed a memorandum of cooperation aiming to reduce poverty, support small- and medium-sized businesses, and create a favorable businesses environment in the district. Also, a Khan-Uul district Business Council was established with the goals of advising business owners, training them in business centers, and sending advisories and information by email.
