J.Enkhbayar illegally dismisses officials
There are reports that newly-appointed Defense Minister J.Enkhbayar illegally dismissed several ministry officials after assuming his new post.
So far J.Enkhbayar has dismissed Sh.Sukhbaatar, the head of the ministry’s State Structure and Management Department; N.Jargalsaikhan, the head of the ministry’s Investment and Finance Department; and N.Battsengel, a member of the ministry’s press staff. It appears the dismissals violate the law on state officials.
J.Enkhbayar has said he plans to dismiss more ministry officials. There are also reports that J.Enkhbayar has suggested establishing a “special unit” to handle public demonstrations. The DP caucus has discussed the issue and established a working group to investigate the situation. If the working group finds that the reports are true, the DP caucus intends to ask for J.Enkhbayar’s resignation.
