MONGOLIA-JAPAN DIPLOMATIC TIES TURN 40

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ A press conference was called on Wednesday in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs dedicated to 40th anniversary of the Mongolia-Japan diplomatic relations.


The Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia and head of the organizing committee for the anniversary M.Enkhbold addressed the press conference. He emphasized that Japan supported Mongolia's democratic reform and gave much assistance to Mongolia in overcoming difficulties during a transition period. He said the government of Mongolia decided to celebrate the anniversary because it has attached a great importance to it, and then introduced plans and a logo for the anniversary.

According to him, it has been planned to run 23 measures such as issuing a post stamp and logo, implementing high-level mutual visits, running an essay contest about Japan among Mongolian pupils and youths, mounting an exhibition of Japanese traditional dolls and photos, publishing a Mongolia-Japan dictionary. Moreover, several other actions are expected such as concert of Mongolian folk arts in Japan and exhibitions of Mongolian traditional clothes and calligraphy.

The same day, a reception of honor was given in the Ministry for opening measures of the anniversary, with participation of 150 people including delegates from state organizations, NGO, enterprisers and the friendship groups. Speeches were given there by the Deputy Premier M.Enkhbold; T.Shimizu, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia; and S.Batbold MP, a head of the Mongolia-Japan friendship group at parliament.
