DEDICATED TO MONGOLIA MEETING RUNS AT U.S CONGRESS LIBRARY

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ In frames of the 25th anniversary of the Mongolia-US diplomatic relations, a meeting was held on January 30 in the Library of U.S Congress.


An exhibition of books, magazines and newspapers on Mongolia and its history was mounted at the library as well.

The Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Ms. Ann Stock addressed the event and underlined that the establishment of the diplomatic relations was not only a beginning of the official ties, but also a launch of just friendship for the democracy. She expressed satisfaction with present level of the bilateral relations and cooperation and with the cultural and humanitarian cooperation, and conveyed a greeting from the U.S Secretary of State.

After this, the Mongolia's Ambassador to the USA Kh.Bekhbat and the U.S Ambassador to Mongolia Jonathan Addleton highlighted their view of the relations and cooperation. Mr. Bekhbat emphasized that Mongolia established the diplomatic ties with the USA after having overcome many difficulties and noted the cooperation gained biggest achievements withing the short time. The US ambassador Addleton mentioned about releasing his book about a history of the Mongolia-USA ties and then said that the ties between the nations started 150 years ago.

During the event, the president of the Mongolia Society and a Mongolist Dr. Alicia Campi presented her books to the National Library of Mongolia.

The event brought together representatives of the U.S Department of State, NGOs, some diplomats who worked in Mongolia; diplomats of Mongolia's Embassy and others.
