China, Mongolia Eye Closer Cooperation on Law Enforcement

China and Mongolia vowed in Beijing Tuesday to step up cooperation on law enforcement to safeguard security in border area.

The pledge came out of the meeting between Chinese State Councilor Meng Jianzhu and visiting secretary-general of Mongolia's National Security Council Tsagaandari Enkhtuvshin.

Sino-Mongolian cooperation on law enforcement and security is an essential component of the countries' political ties, said Meng.

Meng said China-Mongolia relations developed smoothly in recent years. China highly values its relationship with Mongolia and will further develop links with its northern neighbor, he said.

Meng, who also serves as Chinese Public Security Minister, spoke highly of collaboration between the Chinese Public Security Ministry and Mongolian National Security Council.

He said the two countries law enforcement departments have had close cooperation and played an important role in cracking down on cross-order crimes and in safeguarding peace and stability in the border region as well as promoting economic development.

China would continue its effort to further the cooperation with Mongolia in the law enforcement and security fields, Meng said.

Echoing Meng's views, Enkhtuvshin said the Mongolian government attaches great importance to developing relations with China, promising the country would look to further expand cooperation with China on issues concerning law enforcement and security.
