U.S Ambassador Attends Opening of "Khaan Quest-2010"

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA to Mongolia Mr. Jonathan Addleton attended an opening ceremony of the Khaan Quest field exercises of peacekeeping operations which started August 8, the U.S Embassy in Ulaanbaatar says.

Apart of the Ambassador, present at the ceremony were Brigadier General Julio Banez, an Assistant Adjutant General of Alaska's Army National Guard; Mr. S.Baasankhuu, the Deputy Minister of Defense of Mongolia.
The exercises consist of several components, including a Command Post Exercise (CPX), a Medical Exercise (MEDEX), and a Humanitarian Civic Action (HCA) Project.

The HCA project will bring together engineers from Mongolia's Armed Forces (MAF) and the United States Army to conduct joint training and to build a public bath house for residents of Ulaanbaatar's Songinokhairkhan District. Moreover, Germany, France, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Singapore, India, and Canada will send their observers to the CPX. The Republic of Korea will send three medics to join the MEDEX.

The multinational peacekeeping training exercises will last until August 20. The closing ceremony of the exercises will be attended by Mr. Gregson, an Assistant Secretary of Defense (ASD); and Brigadier General Seward, an ASD for Asian and Pacific Security Affairs.
