Mayor allocates last year’s MNT2bn surplus to several programs now

Mayor G.Munkhbayar told a recent meeting of the Ulaanbaatar Citizens’ Representative Assembly that last year’s budget surplus of MNT7.6 billion will be used in a few selected programs this year.
MNT2 billion will be spent on temporary relocation of 300 households necessitated by a project to extend infrastructure in ger districts, MNT2.5 billion on building a complex for the Bayanzurkh district administration, MNT 400 million on revising the general land management plan, MNT831 million on extending and renovating heating and water facilities and sewerage in residential districts, MNT900 million on repairing the bronze statues of D.Sukhbaatar and Kh.Choibalsan, MNT350 million on landscaping at Independence Square, and MNT100 million on purchasing an excavator for the city’s water facility.

Another MNT50 million is planned to be spent on providing street lights and domestic electricity to the new ger district in Baga-Khangai.

The meeting also discussed the budget for 2010. This allocates MNT112 million to providing a healthy and safe environment, and MNT1 billion on preparing an economic and technical study of utilization of groundwater.
