O.Baasankhuu submits draft amendment to parliament
Ulaanbaatar,
April 16 (MONTSAME) On Wednesday, O.Baasankhuu MP submitted to the Speaker
Z.Enkhbold a draft amendment to the law on tobacco control.
The law on
tobacco control came into force on March 1 of 2013, but some clauses of this
law are not fully realized and the law reduces places for smoking, O.Baasankhuu
said. “Cutting places for smoking actually caused an illicit trade of tobacco,
importing and trading of non-standard and counterfeit products,” he said.
The draft
amendment adds a new clause about special chambers for smoking, and such places
must be equipped with air conditions, and it prohibits smoking around all
places except chambers in bars, restaurants and job places of enterprisers.
Animal husbandry in statistics
Ulaanbaatar,
April 16 (MONTSAME) As of the first quarter of this year , 5,485.0 thousand
heads of female breeding stock have been gave birth and it is equals to 28.2%
of total livestock at the beginning of the year.
Survival of
young animals amounted 5461.8 thousand heads and it shows an increase of 1434.8
thousand heads or 35.6% against the previous year.
Natural losses
of adult animals reached 87.6 thousand heads at a national level and it
declined by 156.0 thousand heads or 64.1% against the previous year. Out of the
losses of adult animals, 5.0 thousand were horses, 10.0 thousand were cows, 0.3
thousand were camels, 28.7 thousand were sheep and 43.6 thousand goats.
Industrial output increases
Ulaanbaatar,
April 16 (MONTSAME) The industrial products index (2010=100 experimental
estimation, seasonal adjusted) in first quarter of 2014 increased by 4.6%
against the previous year and by 2.5% against previous month.
It decreased by
5.3% against the end of the last year. The increase in the industrial output
was mainly due to 8.2% to 1.8 times increases in mining and quarrying products
such as iron ore, crude oil, and copper, with concentrate, 2.4% to 2.7 times
increases in industrial main products of manufacturing sector such as bakery
products, kind of sausage, milk, pure water, steel casting lime, metal steel,
wooden building door and windows, metal foundries, flour, sheepskin coat,
vacuum windows and doors, sawn wood.
Construction
and capital repairs work in the first quarter of this year reached MNT 7.8
billion or 28.6% against the previous year. The increase was mainly due to a
rise of MNT 6.6 billion or 24.7% in the work done by domestic construction
entities.
Freight and passenger
Ulaanbaatar,
April 16 (MONTSAME) In first quarter of this year, 8.9 million tons of freight
and 83.2 million passengers (at duplicated counting) were carried by all types
of transport.
Carried freight
increased by 826.0 thousand tons or 10.2%, but carried passengers decreased by
5.3 million people or 6.0% against the previous year.
The size of
freight carried by auto transportation reached 4.5 million tons, increasing by
1.0 thousand tons or 29.6% against the previous year, but the number of
passengers by auto transportation declined by 5.2 million or 6.0% against the
previous year. The revenue from this kind of transport went up by MNT 30.5
billion or 54.4%.
The size of
freight by railways reached 4,448.3 thousand tons and 800.5 thousand passengers
(at a duplicated number) in first quarter of this year, showing decreases in
both freight size and number of passengers by 192.3 thousand tons or 4.1% and
91.4 thousand people or 10.3%, respectively.
Stock exchange news for April 16

April 16 (MONTSAME) At the Stock Exchange trades held Wednesday, a total of
7,780 shares of 19 JSCs were traded costing MNT 20 million 028 thousand and
120.00.
"State
Department Store" /2,147 units/, "Makh impex” /2,075 units/,
"Remikon” /1,719 units/, "Tavantolgoi” /922 units/ and
"Ulaanbaatar khivs” /244 units/ were the most actively traded in terms of
trading volume, in terms of trading value--"Makh impex" (MNT six
million 211 thousand and 570), "Tavantolgoi" (MNT four million 657
thousand and 090), "Ulaanbaatar khivs" (MNT three million and 416
thousand), "Darkhan khovon" (MNT two million 164 thousand and 050)
and "State Department Store" (MNT one million 166 thousand and 660).
The total
market capitalization was set at MNT one trillion 585 billion 788 million 439
thousand and 832. The Index of Top-20 JSCs was 15,643.73, increasing by MNT
76.76 or 0.49% against the previous day.
Mine rescuers from Poland visiting
Ulaanbaatar,
April 16 (MONTSAME) A chairman of a central station of the Poland’s Mine Rescue
Service Andres Klopek and other officials are visiting Mongolia these days.
In frames of
the visit, a cooperation contract has been signed between the mine rescue
services of Mongolia and Poland. Accordingly, the Polish side will hold
training for strengthening activities of the Mongolia’s mine rescue service and
to involving them in exercises. They will exchange information as well.
Following
signing of the document, the Polish delegation has legged a coal mine in
Baganuur and gold mines of the “Boroo Gold” and “Narantolgoi”.
The visit will
continue until April 19.
