Athletes head to Sochi 2014 Paralympics with Mongolian Flag

On Friday, State Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism P.Altangerel met with the national paralympics team that will represent Mongolia at the Sochi 2014 Paralympics to hand over the state flag of Mongolia, attire and equipment designed for the team.


Skier B.Ganbold will compete in cross country skiing. He will race in the men’s one km category on March 10, in the men’s 10 km on March 12 and 20 km on March 16, on last day of the Sochi Paralympics.

The national team comprises of five members, including vice president of the Mongolian Paralympics Committee (MPC) D.Surenkhorloo, coach J.Dashdondog, technical coach N.Sandagdorj, media representative and reporter of the Mongolian National Broadcaster D.Batjargal, and skier B.Ganbold.

President of the MPC D.Nyamkhuu was invited to the Sochi Paralympics by the International Paralympics Committee as an honored guest.

Gobi Corporation designed and provided cashmere outfits for the Mongolian national team for the opening and closing ceremonies on February 26.

Gobi designer B.Bolormaa used red, yellow and blue colors of Mongolian flag when designing the outfits.

Mongolia participated in the Winter Paralympics for the first time in 2006 in Turin, Italy. In Vancouver Winter Paralympics 2010, two Mongolian athletes N.Sukhbaatar and E.Zorig took part.
This year, 1,600 athletes from 44 nations are competing in 72 events at Sochi 2014.
