FORMER PRESIDENT N.ENKHBAYAR ARRESTED

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ A former President of Mongolia and chairman of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party (MPRP) N.Enkhbayar has been arrested.

On Thursday evening at around 8.00 pm, officers of the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) tried to arrest N.Enkhbayar while he was in jeep with is guards around the Management Academy. The windows were smashed, and Enkhbayar was dragged out of the car and beaten. At home, he felt bad--heart and blood pressue, the ambulance was called. 
 
Later, several lawmakers came and were allowed to enter the flat Enkbayar was in.

A high official from the ACA E.Amarbat, a leader of the operation, said they have Sukhbaatar district court's decision on arresting N.Enkhbayar. It was sounded much later, at around 6 am., by the police that forcefully had entered the flat. The police claim that Enkhbayar ignored the court decision and refused to go with the police. Two TV aired how the operation went with force and violence. According to unofficial source, N.Enkhbayar has been taken to Tov aimag's detention center.

E.Amarbat explained the reason of the arrest,"From November of 2011, N.Enkhbayar was asked many times to come for corruption investigation. He did not obey the order." Another source says N.Enkhbayar is guilty "for disclosing a state secret by calling a press conference on Thursday in the Government House about documents related to the July 1 riots."

At a news conference called on Friday morning by members of the MPRP and civil movements, a lawyer on human rights N.Ichinkhorloo officially announced she decided to work as an advocate for N.Enkhbayar.
