REPORT ON SOCIO-ECONOMIC SECTORS OF MONGOLIA RELEASED

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ A ceremony took place on Thursday to inaugurate the latest report of Mongolia for 2012.


This report covers the country's main sectors such as mining, economy, industry, energy, financial services, construction, telecoms and IT, transport, and features in-depth interviews and viewpoints from leading experts. It has been worked out for eight months by the Oxford Business Group, the Foreign Investment and Foreign Trade Agency of Mongolia (FIFTA) and other business organizations, and NGOs.

The Premier S.Batbold has said Mongolia has been chosen at first out of Central Asian countries to release the report, and thanked the Oxford Business Group for it on behalf of the government and the business sector of Mongolia. He has emphasized an importance of the report in propagandizing Mongolia abroad and attracting to it investments for economic development.

The Year of Business Environment Reform was announced in 2010 by the government, and some directions of the state were transferred to specialized unions by annulling over 100 permissions and licenses with aim to slacken a centralization and to reduce a bureaucracy, he said.

Mongolia intends to introduce the European standards in all its spheres and levels with a key purpose to improve the business environment here which will improve the governance, make the state, social relations and any information transparent and fair, and improve responsibilities of enterprisers, he went on.

He hoped the report of Mongolia for 2012 will contribute to realizing these goals. “Foreign investments have been increasing year to year thanks to the policy of supporting investments, for example, the investments reached USD six billion by end of the last year, the Premier said. The economic growth of Mongolia stood at 17.3 per cent in previous year, it is expected to rise, he added.

The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita is expected to reach USD nine thousand in 2021, as the National Development and Innovation Committee calculated.
