PREMIER RECEIVES PRESIDENT OF MITSUI COMPANY

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The president and CEO of the Mitsui & Co., Ltd Mr. Masami Iijima has emphasized that the biggest investors and producers of Japan are attaching a great importance to the official visit of Mongolia's PM to Japan, and that they are satisfied with a laying of a basis to activate the Economic and Partnership Agreement (EPA).

Mr. Iijima said it on Monday while meeting with the Prime Minister of Mongolia S.Batbold.

S.Batbold expressed satisfaction with a willingness of the Japanese leading companies to invest Mongolia and to develop a mutually beneficial cooperation.

The economics and trade cooperation have run in a scope of Japanese official aid since an establishment of the diplomatic relations, the Premier said and underlined then an importance of the talks and agreement that determine conomic content of the strategic partnership.

He noted that Mongolia is maintaining a policy on ensuring a participation of Japan in the Tavan tolgoi project, and that it wants to collaborate with the Japanese companies in biggest projects like constructing railways in connection with a development of coal extraction and enrichment, mining and mineral resource sectors. He underlined that Mongolia intends to collaborate with Japan in introducing environmentally-friendly latest hi tech, manufacturing value-added products, exporting them to the world market. He thanked Mitsui & Co., Ltd for willing to cooperate with Mongolia.

After this meeting, a cooperation memorandum was signed between the “Erdenes Tavantolgoi” company and the Mitsui & Co., Ltd. The sides will now collaborate in trading and purchasing coke coal extracted from the TT deposit.
