CABINET MEETING IN BRIEF

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The regular cabinet meeting held on Friday discussed a draft amendment to the law on government of Mongolia initiated by the State Head.

The cabinet considered that this draft is too restricted because it states that only the Prime Minister is allowed to combine his works together with duty of MP. By the Constitution, a MP is forbidden to take works or duty which are not specified as lawful responsibility except the Prime Minister and cabinet members. The cabinet decided to consider this ill together with the same bills of some MPs.

- The cabinet did not back a draft law initiated by Kh.Battulga and other MPs on restricting a right of an candidate to be nominated to the parliamentary election if he /she runs alcoholic beverages and tobacco businesses or used to be somehow engaged in the drugs cases. The ministers say bill violates the Constitution on articles against discriminations.

- Initiated by S.Erdene MP, a bill on recovering commissions for working years and pension insurance was discussed by the cabinet. It was not backed.

- Head of the Cabinet Secretariat of Government Ch.Khurelbaatar introduced to the cabinet implementation of the program on supporting local governance.

- By March 6 of this year, Mongolia had fuel resources for 28 days. The A-80 fuel is enough for 30 days, AI-92--for 36 days and diesel fuel--for 16 days. The fuel price decreased by MNT 120-140 against January.
