OVER 12 MILLION HEADS OF YOUNG ANIMALS SURVIVED

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ In the first nine months of 2011 at national level, 13.0 million heads of livestock gave birth. This is almost 84 percent out of 15.5 million of total breeding stock (at the ending of 2010).

In the first nine months of 2011, 97.1 percent or 12.7 million head of young animals survived, increasing by 5.2 million heads or 69.2 percent against the same period of 2010. By the 1st of October 2011, 359.6 thousand tons of cereals, 182.9 thousand tons of potatoes, 88.9 thousand tons of vegetables were harvested, and 1,009.4 thousand tons of hay harvest, 27.9 thousand tons of handmade fodder and 361.1 thousand tons of silage crops were produced.

Cereals went up by 110.9 thousand tons or 44.6 percent, potatoes by 55.4 thousand tons or 43.5 percent, vegetables by 22.0 thousand tons or 32.8 percent, hay harvest by 21.7 thousand tons or 2.2 percent, handmade fodder by 7.1 thousand tons or 33.9 percent, and silage crops by 23.9 tons or 7.1 percent against the same period of 2010.
