Move One Logistics Open New Freight Offices in Asia
AFGHANISTAN / IRAQ / MONGOLIA – Specialist freight service providers Move One Logistics have announced the opening of three new facilities in Asia to help provide their customers with improved services in some of the most difficult operating regions on Earth.
In April Move One announced that it had begun construction of a new base of operation at Az Zubayr, part of a wider restructuring and centralization of Move One’s Southern Iraq offices. Since then the new compound has developed rapidly and is now operational and open for business.
The new facility will be used as Move One’s primary receiving and distribution centre. Centrally located it will provide logistics and project management services to the oil industry not only at both the North and South Rumaila oil fields, but also the West Qurna and Majnoon oil fields a little further to the North. Pivotal to the warehouse’s positioning was the primary transit routes and infrastructure, providing short transit times to all of the main international transportation hubs in Southern Iraq, with Basra Airport, the Port of Umm Qasr and the Safwan border crossing to Kuwait all within an hour’s drive.
Operating in Iraq requires special facilities and Craig Bailey, Move One’s Southern Iraq Manager, described that: “The concept was to create our own version of the many self contained and sustaining US Army bases scattered throughout Iraq. This is to offer marketable security to our client base and present a practical application to security where Move One operates independently in an environment that continues to suffer from a low intensity civil war”.
As a result Move One's new Az Zubayr is heavily fortified with “T-Walls” – massive concrete “blast” walls - a security gate at the entrance, its own generator farm to supply electricity, added perimeter lighting, and integral living and office containers.
Although fully functional, construction and improvements continue. Ongoing developments include a fully functioning kitchen and a small garden in the courtyard with a sun screen. The creation of security cages in the warehouses for high value cargo, the construction and fit out of a warehouse office and the implementation of the day to day QHSE program are almost complete.
Craig explained: “Currently we can accommodate a mix of up to 10 Move One personnel and/or clients. This will soon expand as we relocate additional living and office units to this compound from other Move One Iraq compounds being decommissioned at military bases”.
Move One has also opened a new office at Shindand Air Base, Afghanistan, to support the aims of US Forces in the area by providing a full range of logistics services. In the last year Shindand Air Base has tripled in size and now boasts the second largest airfield in Afghanistan.
”Move One’s ability for on-base services is well known throughout Afghanistan, however our services have now gone from strength to strength by offering trucking services to and from Shindand, servicing any part of the country” said Zsolt Ormai, Move One’s Country Manager for Afghanistan.
“With three full time staff members employed on the site and imminent growth potential, Shindand base is a great opportunity to expand Move One’s reach within Afghanistan. We are fully equipped to handle inbound freight that our clients want to ship directly to Shindand. With many prime contractors also ramping up their current operations on base and planning to make this Airbase one of their main distribution hubs for Southern Afghanistan we can officially say, ‘we are ready!’ What differentiates Move One is our ability to service nearby FOB’s from this station such as Herat, Farah, Delaram and even offer distribution to smaller fire bases,” Zsolt concluded.
In addition to these developments, Move One have also relocated their Mongolia HQ to a larger office that the company says meets the requirements of its expanding workforce in the country and allows for further augmentation of services already available to international clients in the area.
Located in the Sukhbaatar district of downtown Ulan Baatar the new head quarters will, according to Move One, position them as a key player in Mongolia’s industrial development - something that the company anticipates will escalate dramatically in the near future as Mongolia is home to some of the world’s biggest untapped reserves of gold, coal and uranium, including the Oyu Tolgoi project, a mineral deposit so large that it is could produce a third of the worlds copper.
Speaking about the new offices and expanded regional capabilities, Move One’s Country Manager Noah Glasco said that: “It will allow us to concentrate our administrative, tracking and sales activities at a core location, closer to our client base in order to maximize customer service. Combined with the capabilities of our newly opened warehouse we are now in an even stronger position to provide our comprehensive range of services to an ever expanding customer base.”
