MONGOLIAN DELEGATIONS AT 10TH CONFERENCE IN S.KOREA

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ At the Conference of the Parties to UN's Convention on Combating desertification, Mongolia has taken part in discussions and has briefed to the gathered on actions related to the desertification in his country. The 10th Conference of the Parties to UN's Convention on Combating desertification is running October 10-21 in Changwon of Republic of Korea. A Nature environment and tourism Minister of Mongolia, L.Gansukh attended a high level meeting of the conference and signed a cooperation memorandum on creating a network against desertification, dryness, land degradation in Northeast Asia with Forestry authorities of China and S.Korea. He has been accompanied by several officials from the Nature environment and tourism Ministry, research organizations, desertifcation combating and reducing projects and others. Aims of the network are to combat the desertification, rehabilitate soils eroded, implement national program and project on joint researches into ways of preventing and controlling sand and dust storms, run seminars and symposiums, share experiences, exchange information on reducing the desertification, dryness, and land degradation. The Minister has been accompanied by several officials from the Nature environment and tourism Ministry, research organizations, desertifcation combating and reducing projects and others. The conference has been attended by some three thousand representatives of 194 countries and Nature environment Ministers of 30 countries.
