JAPAN AND LAOS AMBASSADORS PRESENT CREDENTIALS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia Mr Shimizu Takenori presented Wednesday his diplomatic credentials to the President Ts.Elbegdorj.


After this ceremony, the State Head and the Ambassador held a meeting. The President said he is glad that an experienced diplomat who knows well Mongolia has been appointed as the Ambassador to Mongolia.
The President thanked Mr Takenori for the message conveyed from His Highness Akihito to express a satisfaction with the Mongolia-Japan relations and cooperation. "I was extremely thankful for being received by His Highness in Japan last year," he said. It is vital for th sides to boost mutually beneficial collaboration in the economic sphere, Ts.Elbegdorj said. Mentioning that the joint statement focuses on developing the strategic cooperation in mining, mineral resources, energy, infrastructure, animal husbandry and agriculture, Mr Elbegdorj underlined an importance of launching an economic partnership agreement which will forward the strategic partnership.

The State Head said he would like His Highness Akihito to come to Mongolia on occasion of the 40th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic relations to be celebrated next year. Then he asked the Ambassador to convey this wish to His Highness.

The same day, the State Head received diplomatic credentials from Mr Bunnyan Saysanavong, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Laos. The President said Mongolia wants to intensify the traditional relations and cooperation with Laos. He hoped that the Ambassador would make effort to realize decisions made by the 8th Mongolia-Laos intergovernmental commission held last year. He also mentioned that the 50th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic relations is expected in 2012. The Ambassador invited the President to a high-level summit of the ASEAN which will run next year in Laos, and promised to implement the intergovernmental commission' decisions.
