Free treatment for poor people in Mongolia

The Ministry of Health is implementing a project to provide affordable health care to poor citizens in cooperation with the General Office of Social Insurance (GOSI)

The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank and the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction

Who will be entitled to free treatment?

The present phases from December 16, 2010 in Songinokhairkhan district of Ulaanbaatar and Khovd, Dornod, Khuvsgul and Dundgobi aimags will be involved in the first three months of the year. Poor citizens of remaining eight districts of Ulaanbaatar and 17 aimags would be involved in this year. Besides, homeless people and citizens without income are involving to the project.

How many people took the permission at present?

1165 people over 19 year-old have taken permissions and 80% of them are men and 20% is women. Center for Labor and Care wrote names of people who live in Center of Living, Training and Product in Songinokhairkhan district.

What medical service they have usually taken?

There is not concrete data yet. Firstly, they will see a doctor then will take treatment.

Which hospital is working in the project?

Private hospital Enerel is working along an agreement of the Ministry of Health and drug store Darvi distribute medicine along cooperation with GBSI. Also patients who need hospital stay will be treated in Enerel. All diagnostic procedures including computer, tomographic and nuclear diagnosis are free in Enerel in the permission.

Where could local area citizens take permissions?

Local citizens would take their permissions in local administrative units. A permission has own code and permission has instructed medical service along the project. Also aimag and soum hospitals inform about project service.
