Development Council of the Southern Gobi is established

The irregular Meeting of Cabinet Ministers was held last Friday and discussed the issue of establishing the Development Council of the Southern Gobi. The Council will be established based on the Government Resolution 57 of 2009, Article 4.1 of Investment Agreement, signed between the Government of Mongolia and IMMI, Ivanhoe Mines Limited, Rio Tinto International Holdings limited companies.

The Development Council will assist to the Government in organizing and coordinating activities such as development and funding of the strategy plan, budget and program of Southern Gobi region.

The Cabinet Meeting gave order to the Development Council of the Southern Gobi to effectively assist the Government in organizing actions of providing comprehensive policy of urban development and infrastructure while considering the development plan of the southern Gobi region and its urbanization issues. MP Kh.Badamsuren is the Chairman of the Council.
