DP Faction Head Works in Dornogobi

Ulaanbaatar, September 17 (MONTSAME) While parliament is still having a break, a head of the Democratic Party’s faction at the State Great Khural D.Erdenebat left Wednesday for Dornogobi aimag.

Erdenebat is working in Sainshand to witness a construction. On Thursday, he will work in Zamyn-Uud soum in order to see its border checkpoint and a course of establishing an economic free zone.
Parliament adopted the law on border checkpoint, the cabinet submitted to parliament a bill on the economic free zone. 

Shooters Announced to Compete in Asian Games

Ulaanbaatar, September 17 (MONTSAME) Mongolia’s Shooting Sports Federation has selected shooters who will take part in the Asian Games that will open this Friday in Incheon of South Korea.
By a decision of the federation, the national team has comprised O.Gundegmaa, a State Honored Sportswoman and Olympic silver medallist; Ts.Monkhzul, T.Bayartsetseg IMS (women’s 25 pistol); E.Davaakhuu IMS, B.Sainnasan, A.Altankhuyag MS (men’s 25 m pistol); O.Yanjinlham, Ch.Narantuya, G.Nandinzaya IMS (women’s rifle); N.Bayaraa, B.Bishrel, J.Gankhuyag, O.Enkhsaikhan and D.Ganzorig IMS (men’s rifle).
Some of the shooters have headed for South Korea from Spain after having competed in the 2014 ISSF World Shooting Championship in Granada.
The team is chaired by E.Monkh-Ochir, the MSSF president, and is coached by L.Undralbat and S.Adilbish. 

Mongolian Basketball Players to Attend Asian Games

Ulaanbaatar, September 17 (MONTSAME) Mongolian Basketball Association (MBA) sends both male and female teams for the Incheon-2014 Asian Games.
The male team of 12 athletes and female team of 11 have headed to S.Korea. Among them is international master of sports Sh.Sedbazar, who is an experienced player having led Mongolian teams in several grand tournaments and represented the country in over 30 tournaments, and having won a bronze medal in World University Cup of 2012 as a coach.
Others in the men are M.Bilguun, M.Otgonmunkh, O.Uuganbayar, Sh.Sedbazar, B.Odbayar, G.Battur, T.Sanchir, D.Delgernyam, O.Sergelen, M.Badrakh, Ts.Azbayar and B.Munkhbold.
The members of female team are B.Khos-Erdene, O.Bolortuya, B.Solongo, G.Zolzaya, D.Ganzul, J.Munkhsuvd, G.Enkhdelger, G.Bayartsetseg, Z.Tsolmon, B.Altanzaya and Dolgor.

Boxers Named to Compete in Asian Games

Ulaanbaatar, September 17 (MONTSAME) Men and women boxers of the national selected teams will take part in the 17th Asian Games that will start on Friday in Incheon, South Korea.
The Mongolia’s Olympic Boxing Federation (MOBF) Wednesday announced names of the boxers to compete in the Games. By the schedule, the boxing events will take place from September 23 to October 3.
The national teams have included G.Gan-Erdene (men’s 49 kg), Kh.Enkhdelger (52 kg), N.Togstsogt (56 kg), D.Otgonjargal (60 kg), B.Chinzorig (64 kg), B.Tuvshinbat (69 kg), N.Shinebayar (75 kg), S.Erdenebayar (81 kg), D.Otgonbayar (-91 kg) and B.Enkhbayar (+91 kg), M.Nandintsetseg (women’s 51 kg), O.Suvd-Erdene (60 kg) and E.Undraa (75 kg).
Mongolia will be represented at the Incheon Asian Games by some 240 athletes to compete in 23 events.    

Mine Rescue Team Prized at Int'l Tournament

Ulaanbaatar, September 17 (MONTSAME) Nalaikh mine's Rescue team of the Ministry of Mining has taken 5th place at the ninth International Mine Rescue Competition which took place in Katowice of Poland on September 6-13.
It is the second time Mongolia partakes in these events.
Mongolia has also become the third--among 23 teams from 14 countries--in the category of mechanic engineering.
International Mines Rescue Body Conference was held simultaneously with the competition to discuss ways of improving a structures and system of mine rescue departments, contemporary approaches and technologies of immediate emergency help in times of landslides in the depth, dust and gas explosions and de-aerations, says Ts.Janchiv, the Mine Rescue advisor and state Honored miner.  

What Future May Await Erdenet Deposit?

Ulaanbaatar, September 17 (MONTSAME) After exhausting its reserves the Erdenet deposit, which is operating since 1978, can function further, says its director Ts.Davaatseren and adds that a project of close-down management of "Erdenet Mining" corporation is drawing much attention from its board.
The management must define actions to run at the site after exhausting the mineral reserves. There are several directives to be necessarily included in the close-down strategy--rehabilitation for every specific land types of the deposit; constructing machinery and equipments factories based on continuous operation of the current mechanical plants; creating an artificial lake for building a complex which can act as a water park during summers and winter sports complex during winters; creating a favorable environment for international tournaments, especially for auto rallies. Building qualities’ and other assessments for close-down strategy are underway.
In addition to them, the corporation board considers that the initiative of expanding the plant as a National Mining Institute and Laboratory on academic research and scientific invention, and a construction designs should be reflected in the strategy, in coordination of the government’s development policy. 

Possible World-Class Oil Shale Field in Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar, September 17 (MONTSAME) Genie Energy Ltd. of the USA has set up an agreement on exploration of oil shale with Mongolia’s Authority for Petroleum. According to geological research from the company, it is very possible that a world-class oil shale is existing on explored sites.
This how this company is adding its exploration areas to some 60 thous.square meters from 34,470 square meters, on which a five-year agreement was signed last year between the two sides.
Ministry of Mining and the Authority for Petroleum of Mongolia have started this work showing great functionality, said a director of Genie Energy Ltd. Michael Jonas, and expressed a confidence in the mutual benefits of the agreements for Mongolia and for the company. He also noted that there might be a world-class oil-shale deposit in the explored field, according to their geological researches. Another research says Mongolia has a known reserve of oil-shale enough to cover 30-years' need in petroleum.  

Ch.Mungundalai approaches final 1,000 km in his cross-country cycling tour
September 17 (news.mn) A Mongolian cyclist with a communication disorder, Ch.Mungundalai, is on the 98th day of a 5,500 km long journey from Ulaanbaatar to the western provinces of Mongolia he began on June 7th. 
He has arrived now in Khuvsgul, and plans to continue his journey by boat on Khuvsgul Lake.
Khuvsgul Province Youth Union leader and Provincial Governor's Office officials welcomed him to Khuvsgul.  Ch.Mungundalai has moved on to the last 1,000 km of the journey with support and help from athletes, local people and well-wishers.
Ch.Mungundalai says the last 1,000 km stretch will be the toughest of his three-month long journey.

Mongolia to Announce Its National Pride of Magnoliophyta
September 17 (infomongolia.com) On September 17, 2014, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Mongolia stated to announce the National Pride of Flowering Plant or Magnoliophyta by conducting a poll among the population.
The questionnaire will be held among the selected eight flowering plants below and will be announced in the end of 2014.
One of the eight Magnoliophytas will be announced as the National Pride of Flowering Plant of Mongolia:
1. Mongol Altankhundgana (mon. Монгол Алтанхундгана, lat. Adonis mongolica),
2. Ikh Shuudergene (Их шүүдэргэнэ, Chelidonium majus),
3. Numrugt Banzdoo or Vansemberuu (Нөмрөгт банздоо, Вансэмбэрүү, Saussurea involucrata),
4. Durvulsun Mugez or Altangagnuur (Дөрвөлсөн мүгэз, Алтангагнуур, Rhodiola quadrifida),
5. Tsagaan Tseene (Цагаан цээнэ, Paeonia lactiflora),
6. Goviin Khyalgana or Mongol Uvs (Говийн хялгана, Монгол өвс, Stipa gobica)
7. Mongol Potanin (Монгол Потанин, Potaninia mongolica),
8. Mongol Dogar (Монгол догар, Caryopteris mongolica);
In conjunction, the Government of Mongolia resolved to name the Falcon as the "National Bird of Glory" in October 2012.
Besides, Sukhbaatar Aimag also announced to name the Whooper Swan as the Aimag’s Bird of Pride in May 2013 and two months later, the Govi-Altai Aimag proclaimed the Mazaalai or Gobi Bear as the Aimag’s Animal of Glory. In May 2014, Umnugovi Aimag at its Citizens Representative Khural also announced the Ooch Yol bird (Gypaetus barbatus) as the Pride Bird of the Aimag.
Moreover, the Government of Mongolian resolved to name the Burkhan Khaldun Mountain as the National Pride Mountain in November 2013. This resolution was issued on the occasion of celebrating the 851st anniversary of birth of Chinggis Khaan, when the Day of Birth of Great Chinggis Khaan was renamed as the Day of Mongolian Pride in 2012 and since then annually on the first day of the first winter month by lunar calendar, Mongolia celebrates the Day of Mongolian Pride.

Stock exchange news for September 17
Ulaanbaatar, September 17 (MONTSAME) At the Stock Exchange trades on Wednesday, a total of three million 338 thousand and 650 shares of 17 JSCs were traded costing MNT one billion 863 million 789 thousand and 370.00.
"Mongol shiltgeen” /three million and 323 thousand units/, “Hermes center” /12 thousand and 471 units/, “Genco tour bureau” /1,020/, “Remikon” /550 units/ and "State Department Store” /449 units/ were the most actively traded in terms of trading volume, in terms of trading value were "Mongol shiltgeen” (MNT one billion and 854 million 234 thousand), "Gazar suljmel” (MNT two million and 208 thousand), “Hermes center” (MNT two million 120 thousand and 240), "Sharyn gol” (MNT one million 922 thousand and 400) and "Khasu-mandal” (MNT one million 305 thousand and 580).
The total market capitalization was set at MNT one trillion 619 billion 960 million 034 thousand and 744. The Index of Top-20 JSCs was 16,126.01, decreasing 37.80 units or 0.23% against the previous day.

Forum of medical apparatus engineers to run

Ulaanbaatar, September 17 (MONTSAME) The 2nd forum of the medical facilities engineers will be held in end of this month.
Co-organized by the Ministry of Health, the Mongolian Society of Medical Engineering and the “Misheel group” LLC, the forum will take place within the “Health technology and medical equipment-2014” exhibition to be mounted on September 26-28 in Ulaanbaatar.
The forum’s participants will consider issues of medical apparatus and facilities, their utilization, repairs, adjustment, health information technology, a tendency of training programme for preparing medical apparatus operators, the collaboration between universities and employers and others.
Progressive technologies of medical assistance and services which have been newly introduced in Mongolia will be advertised to the public during the exhibition. Moreover, this exhibition will present providers of medicine and medical tools, brands of medical assistance, to expand the collaboration among the state, the private sector and international organizations and to introduce new techniques, technologies, projects and programmes.
