Xi Jinping Arrives in Ulan Bator Starting His State Visit to Mongolia

On August 21, 2014, President Xi Jinping arrived in Ulan Bator, starting his state visit to Mongolia.

At 11 a.m. local time, Xi Jinping arrived at the Chinggis Khaan International Airport in Ulan Bator by special plane. Xi Jinping and his wife Mme. Peng Liyuan were warmly greeted by Prime Minister Norovyn Altankhuyag of Mongolia and his wife, Foreign Minister Luvsanvandan Bold and other senior officials of the Mongolian side.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and other delegation members arrived by the same plane.

Wang Xiaolong, Chinese Ambassador to Mongolia, also came to greet them at the airport.

Local youth and children braved the rain to welcome Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan. They waved national flags of the two countries with great enthusiasm. Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan asked to stop their car and went into the crowd to shake hands with them.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Mongolia are friendly neighbors linked by mountains and rivers and have formed long-standing and profound friendship. I would like to convey good wishes of the Chinese people to the friendly Mongolian people. Relatives wish each other well and neighbors send each other best wishes. I believe that this visit will be a journey of friendship, cooperation and development that bears the anticipations of the two peoples.

On the same day, Xi Jinping published a signed article entitled "Galloping Toward a Better Tomorrow for China-Mongolia Relations" in Udriin Sonin, Unuudur, Zuunii Medee and the UB Post and on the Mongolia Web News website.

Xi Jinping stressed that my state visit to Mongolia is like visiting relatives. I'm very delighted and full of expectation. I hope that this visit will serve as an important opportunity to promote the bilateral relations to a new level.

Xi Jinping pointed out that for 65 years since China and Mongolia established diplomatic relationship, friendship and cooperation have been the keynote of China-Mongolia relations. The constant deepening of strategic mutual trust, the growing converging points of interests, and the increasingly closer sentiment between the two nations are valuable assets accumulated through the joint efforts of the two peoples. China and Mongolia, which share a borderline of more than 4,700 kilometers, should not only be close neighbors geographically, but also amicable neighbors in action and friendly neighbors in emotions. Chinese people are striving to realize the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and Mongolian people are forging ahead on the path of reform and development. The two countries enjoy converging points in strategy and complementarity in economy and the two peoples boast long-standing friendship and deep-rooted amity. The continuous deepening and development of the friendship and cooperation between China and Mongolia is blessed with good timing, geographical convenience and harmonious human relations. China-Mongolia relations are standing at the new historical point. China and Mongolia should become trustworthy and responsible strategic partners, mutually beneficial partners sharing development and seeking win-win results, friendly partners enjoying heart-to-heart talks and frequent exchanges and cooperative partners joining hands and promoting peace. We have reason and confidence to expect a brighter future for the development of China-Mongolia relations, to pass on generations of friendship between Chinese and Mongolian people with holy and pure hada and to let the vast grasslands carry the dream of common development of China and Mongolia.
