State Fund loans have been suspended

Related to the decision to provide MNT500 thousand to more than 150 students each to cover tuition fees, the State Fund loans and nonrefundable aid given to students have been suspended. University and institute managements have already started to demand students enrolled in State Fund to pay the tuition fees completely.

Chief of State Fund of Education under the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, D.Nansalmaa says the Minister has decided to suspend the SF loans and aid temporarily in order to coordinate the loans with students’ grades. Since the final decision has not been made, Nansalmaa declined to give further details.

“The SF has financed 42 thousand students’ tuition fees from September to end of December of 2010 to the universities. But the SF will finance the fees from SF as soon as the new procedures are finalized.

When asked whether the amount of grants would differ regarding the professional courses, Nansalmaa gave the following explanation.

“Students in economic field will get MNT350 thousand, educational field MNT520 thousand and engineering MNT620 thousand. We are working to urgently regulate HDF allocation of MNT500 thousand. Since the State Fund has paid the tuition fees of previous years, it would be right if students pay the rest of the tuition fees”
