State visit of President to Tokyo begins

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A state visit of Ts.Elbegdorj, The President of Mongolia, to Japan started November 15 in Tokyo.

The visit's first day was dedicated to meeting with a representation of some two thousand Mongolians who live or study in this country.

In 1976, Japan began receiving student-researchers, and from 1980--students. For the time being, a number of students has reached a thousand, 300 of whom are studying at the expense of the Japanese government, 700 at own money.

Scholarships of the ministry of edication of Japan gave gone to 20 students and 20 post-graduate students, and some 200 students have other scholarships. Mongolia is on the 12 place by its students who are studying in Japan. They major in technology, sciences, economics, international relations. The scientists are running co-researches in archeology, paleontology, ethnography, biochemistry.

The Mongolians asked the President about propagandizing Mongolian culture and traditions, training specialists for mining, technology and biotechnology etc.

The leadership of international Friendship Exchange Council of Japan gave a banquet for the President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj and the First Lady Kh.Bolormaa the same day. The Council aims to increase investments to Mongolia, organizes trainings and seminars.

The same day the President gave an interview to the "Sankei" daily about foreign investments, relations between the two countries, democracy in Mongolia, policy on supporting sports and so on.
