PRESIDENT MEETS AMBASSADOR OF TURKEY

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The President Ts.Elbegdorj received the credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Mongolia Mr. Mustafa Sarnic on Tuesday.

Ts.Elbegdorj congratulated the Ambassador on being appointed to our country. He noted that the Mongolia-Turkey ties, based on a long-year history, have been widening in all spheres. Mentioning about several meetings with the President and Prime Minister of Turkey, the President recalled how he had met with his his Turkish counterpart during the 2012 CICA summit in Istanbul and shared views on the relations and cooperation. "I have invited Mr Abdullah Gul and is waiting his visit," he added.

"Our countries have been cooperating in frames of the United Nations, NATO, OSCE and other international organizations. Turkey backed a request of Mongolia to become a participating state of the OSCE. Mongolia is chairing the Community Democracies (CoD), so we can intensify more our cooperation," the President said.

Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape was inscribed by UNESCO in the World Heritage List in 2004, therefore the two countries are collaborating in founding a World Heritage Museum based on the Landscape, making it a world tourism complex, he went on. The President underlined that direct flights operated by the Turkish Airlines contributes to increasing of the mutual visits of citizens and to expanding of the ties, besides, "we have opportunities to collaborate in mining, agriculture and tourism sectors," he said.

The State Head wished the Ambassador success hoping Mr. Sarnic will deepen the Mongolia-Turkey relations and cooperation.

In turn, the Ambassador noted that the countries have the cultural and historical relations, and then said some 1,000 Mongolian students are studying in Turkey so far. He stressed that he will pay a great attention to enhancing the bilateral ties in the economics, trade, culture and tourism fields.
