Pinoy skaters bag medals in ISU event

MANILA – Two Filipino skaters bagged silver and bronze medals in the recently concluded International Skating Union (ISU) World Development Trophy at the SM Skating Rink of SM Megamall.

Sofia Guidote, 12, placed second in the Basic Novice A Girls category, which was topped by Hyang Mi Ro of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. Jaydean Brits of South Africa finished third.

Elia Mendoza, 14, finished third in the Basic Novice B category, following Courtney Kuhn of the Republic of South Africa. Un Hyang Kim bagged the gold.

A total of 56 skaters from 15 countries vied for the championship, namely the Philippines, Argentina, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, New Zealand, Korea DPR, Singapore, South Africa, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, and Uzbekistan.

Singapore’s Luc Ong won the gold in the Novice A Boys Category, while Yong Myong Ro of Korea DPR ruled the Basic Novice B Boys Level.

In the Junior Ladies Final, it was Chloe Ing of Singapore who earned the gold medal, while Julian Zhi Jie Yee topped the Junior Men’s Final.
