Deputy Minister works in Vietnam

Ulaanbaatar, May 1 (MONTSAME) Foreign Deputy Minister D.Gankhuyag paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and member of Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

At the meeting, D.Gankhuyag expressed a satisfaction with the implementation of agreements reached during a state visit of the President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj to Vietnam in 2013 and during the 15th meeting of the Mongolia-Vietnam intergovernmental commission, before noting the participation of Mongolian business people in ‘Vietnam Expo 2014’ attracts interests of the private sectors of the two countries in cultivating productive cooperation.
Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam noted wider opportunities for implementing joint projects and programs and maintaining closer business connections, and re-affirmed Vietnam will support Mongolia’s application to join APEC once the latter decides to extend its membership.


Draft bill on debt management submitted

Ulaanbaatar, May 1 (MONTSAME) Finance Minister Ch.Ulaan submitted on Wednesday a draft bill on debt management to Parliament Speaker Z.Enkhbold.
The bill aims at regulation of relations related with implementation of mid-term strategy to provide proper level of debt within debt management policies and regulations, and Government’s guarantee-issuance for debts, their registration, reporting and supervision.


Foreign Minister meets Estonian Parliament Speaker

Ulaanbaatar, May 1 (MONTSAME) Foreign Minister L.Bold met with on the President of Estonian Parliament Mr Eiki Nestor on Thursday.
At the meeting Mr Nestor noted the great importance of the Freedom Online Coalition 4th held in Estonia for being a platform of discussion of many vital issues concerning freedom and secure online, and congratulated Mongolia for becoming the next host of the Freedom Online Coalition Conference. Estonia is ready to share its experience and provide assistance in the organization of the event, he said.
The sides then emphasized great opportunities for stimulating Mongolia-Estonia relations and cooperation, for maintaining closer cooperation within EU, as well as for fostering bilateral collaboration in the trade and economic sector.
During his official visit to Estonia, Minister L.Bold also visited the Estonian ICT Demo Center.


“Justice” coalition takes break due to Oyu Tolgoi matter

Ulaanbaatar, May 1 (MONTSAME) The “Justice” coalition took a break at plenary meeting of the parliamentary session during the first-stage discussion of a draft resolution of parliament on some measures for intensifying the national economy.
With aims to intensify the national economy and to ensure the financial stability, the draft resolution has been submitted from the cabinet, and the Standing committee on economy has backed the proposals with some 40 principal terms formulated by a working group for the resolution.
At the discussion of the parliamentary session, a head of the coalition’s faction (Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party and Mongolian National Democratic Party) N.Battsereg put forward its proposals to have one-day break in order to consolidate its position over the 31st term drawn up by the working group. This 31st term states about adding a sub-clause on accelerating the construction of an underground mine of the Oyu Tolgoi project under the current law on investment contract and rendering parliamentary and governmental support to the project’s implementation.
The coalition explained that the clause regarding the Oyu Tolgoi Treaty at the plan on economic intense measures does not meet its programme of actions. The coalition promised to have the Mongolian side own 51% of the Oyu Tolgoi project’s benefit through its programme during the 2012 parliamentary election.
The Speaker Z.Enkhbold gave one-day break for the coalition, and then N.Battsereg said his coalition will forward it position over the matter at a plenary meeting on Friday.


Young doctors awarded President’s prizes

Ulaanbaatar, May 1 (MONTSAME) A ceremony took place on Thursday in the State House to grant prizes named after President of Mongolia to young medical doctors.
 Head of the Presidential Office P.Tsagaan handed the prizes to M.Erdenesaikhan, a doctor of the Kidney Surgery Unit at the 1st State Central Clinics; D.Oyun-Erdene, a doctor of the National Center for Mothers and Infants; and Kh.Mongon-Olzii, a manager of the Unit of Cardiology at the 3rd State Central Clinics.
The doctor from the 1st State Central Clinics M.Erdenesaikhan received the prize for saving lives and health of many people by obtaining professional skills of doing surgeries of kidney transplantation and kidney tumor. Other two doctors D.Oyun-Erdene and Kh.Mongon-Olzii contributing to introducing a new practice in health care and medical treatment for infants, as well as in cardiovascular treatment and surgery.
During the ceremony, the Presidential Office head P.Tsagaan pointed out that Mongolia has gained many achievements last some 20 years, and one of the greatest successes is a rise of average life expectancy of Mongolia by 5-6 years.          


Selbe Bridge to be rebuilt completely

Ulaanbaatar, May 1 (MONTSAME) Under a revocable aid of the Chinese Government, a construction job is going on to expand Beijing street in Ulaanbaatar.
Under this construction project, a 6-line road of nearly one kilometer will be paved in the street and a nearby bridge over the Selbe River running through the city center will be rebuilt, along with proper lighting, traffic lights and green areas.
The contractor Beijing Construction Engineering Group of China, together with Mongolia;s Duuren Trade LLC and ChMM LLC are working on the project that is contracted to be completed in this November.


Mongolian fencers head for Europe

Ulaanbaatar, May 1 (MONTSAME) A men team of Mongolian Fencing Association headed for Europe.
The team includes three time national champion B.Battomor of UB Fencing Club, and national champion B.Buyandelger. They are planning to attend Fencing World Cup in Paris on May 2-3, a Grand Prix in Bern, Switzerland on May 9-10, and a world cup championship in Split, Croatia.


Mongolian women table tennis team has chance to advance ranking

Ulaanbaatar, May 1 (MONTSAME) The Mongolian women team has come third at its group in the 2014 World Team Table Tennis Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
The Mongolian women’s team is competing in group A of zone C with Kazakhstan, Guatemala, Salvador, Caledonia and Azerbaijan, where it has so far achieved three wins and two loses, while men team of Mongolia was playing against Peru, Angola, Bahrain, Mauritius and Philippines. The Mongolian women players will further play to be placed at 49th-60th.
Mongolian women lost to Kazakhstan in 0:3, before winning Azerbaijan with 3:0 on Monday. They will play against the Guatemala team on Tuesday, who has two wins so far. The teams in zone C are competing to be placed between 50th and 90th. The Mongolian women team is currently 72nd in the world ranking.
Mongolian men lost to Bahrain, Peru and Philippines, and won over Mauritius in its group.
The 2014 World Team Table Tennis Championships are taking place in Tokyo from 28 April to 5 May 2014. The Championships is being staged in Japan for the seventh time and is becoming the 52nd edition of the team competition.


Our soloist places second at Int'l Opera Singers Competition

Ulaanbaatar, May 1 (MONTSAME) A soloist of the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet E.Ankhbayar has taken the second place prize at the International Opera Singers Competition named after G.V.Sviridov.
The contest, ran in Kursk city of Russia on April 19-29, was co-organized by the Russian Ministry for Culture, the National Sviridov Fund, the Institute of Sviridov, administration of Kursk city, I.Arkhipov Fund, the Union of Soviet Composers and the Kursk State University.
Our opera singer E.Ankhbayar received this prize among 52 participants of the competition.
