Voting starts for UN Environment Blogger of the Year 2013

The 10 finalists of the United Nations Environment Programme have launched their new articles in the competition to find who will be covering the World Environment Day in Mongolia later this year.
The ten finalists were chosen from over 100 applicants. Now it’s the turn of the public to vote for their favourite.

You can read each of the blog postings and then vote on who you think would best cover the proceedings in Mongolia.

The theme that the bloggers had to cover for their final blog post was about consumption and two options were available for them:

a) How can this generation as a whole make the shift from conspicuous to conscious consumption?

b) Social media for social good (or social change): how can we promote a culture of conscious consumption using the power of social media?

You have until the end of the month to read each post and cast you vote. Taking an early lead is Nigerian blogger Charles Immanuel Akhimien who opted for the social media option. There is still lots of time though so it’s still anyone’s game for winning.

With bloggers from all across the world taking part it’s interesting to see how differently people view the issue of consumption. It’s well worth a visit to the World Environment Day web site to read all the blogs.
