Standardbreds head to Mongolia

Eight young horses bought off Christchurch trainers Graham and Paul Court will soon be exported to Mongolia.

The horses, comprising 2 and 3-year-olds, are to compete in saddle pace races.

''They bought a planeload (66) earlier in the year,'' Graham said.

El Nino, who won the 2009 Kindergarten Stakes at Wyndham, triumphed in Friday's Wagga Cup in New South Wales.

His trainer-driver Ashlee Siejka bagged three wins at the Wagga meeting.

Myross Bush horseman Doug McLachlan prepared El Nino for the Kindergarten and two other wins. Murray Brown also notched a training success with El Nino, while Mosgiel's Craig Buchan trained the gelding to win twice.

El Nino, when trained by Buchan, finished second to Glencoe VC on the grass in the Cromwell Cup in January.

Frances Dances (third), Nicola Jaccka (sixth) and The Odd One (ninth) were other ex-Southlanders to race on the Wagga card.
