Medical encyclopaedia available in Mongolia

A Mongolian medical encyclopaedia has been published in honour of the 70th anniversary of the Health Sciences University of Mongolia (HSUM), which is currently being celebrated by officials and students. The teachers and scientists of every generation who have contributed to the development of the university have been given these encyclopaedias (the Medical Encyclopaedia of Mongolia, in three volumes). The three volumes embody the explanation of over 50,000 medical terms, including their correct pronunciations. The Theory Department Chief of the Traditional Medicine School under HSUM, D. Tsend-Ayush explained the significance of the encyclopaedias, “Before, we used to name the medical terms in many ways, as they were translated from the Russian or English languages. But now these compound volumes, which are the result of diligent work of scientists in the medical sector of Mongolia, will enable people to use medical terminology properly in an organized and united manner.”

The teachers and scientists were also given other volumes titled: “Tradition and Reform”, “Chronological History” and “70 Years of Cooperation”, which describe the magnificent 70-year history of the HSUM, from 1942 until today. Another volume has also been published in honour of the anniversary. This volume, titled “Enerehuin Gegeen Egshig”, includes the poems and writings of famous writers who graduated from the HSUM. It was compiled and published by the teacher and academic, Professor Dr. B. Dagdanbazar.
