UNIDO DIRECTOR-GENERAL TO VISIT

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Mr. Kandeh K. Yumkella will pay an official visit to Mongolia on May 6-8 at an invitation of G.Zandanshatar, the Mongolia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the upcoming visit, the Foreign Minister and the UNIDO Director-General will share views on an implementation course of the Mongolia-UNIDO Integrated program on technical cooperation and its financing matter, on other projects which are being implemented in Mongolia and further projects to be realized.

The UNIDO Director-General Yumkella will get acquainted with recommendations reflected in the Strategic Directions on Industrial Policy in Mongolia which was drawn up in 2011 with a financing from the UNIDO. 

Then, Mr. Yumkella will meet with S.Batbold, the Premier; T.Badamjunai, the Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry; and D.Zorigt, the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy.

Pursuant to the visiting program, the UNIDO Director-General will give lecture themed "Policy on specializing the industry in Mongolia" in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to officials of the Ministries of industrial affairs, state organization and NGOs, researchers, students, and diplomats of embassies in Ulaanbaatar city. A honorary title of professor of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST) will be awarded to Mr. Yumkella as well.

The UNIDO Director-General Mr. Yumkella will be accompanied by Paul Maseli, a Chief of the Office of the Director-General at UNIDO; Edward Clarence-Smith, the Representative and Director of UNIDO Regional Office in Beijing; and Zhen Wang, an Officer at the UNIDO Asia and Pacific Program.

The Mongolia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes that the visit of Mr. Yumkella will significantly contribute to the Mongolia-UNIDO cooperation.
