PRIME MINISTER MEETS UNIDO DIRECTOR-GENERAL

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Prime Minister S.Batbold met Mr. Kandeh Yumkella, the Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), who started an official visit on Monday.

Beginning the meeting, the Premier thanked the UNIDO for working out a research document for a basic guideline of Mongolia's industrial policy with its expenses, in respect of his request, and then said the government of Mongolia is about to put forward cooperation proposals to the UNIDO to realize the biggest projects and programs based on the document.

The Premier stressed that Mongolia always thanks the UNIDO for significantly contributing to developing the industrial sector, and gave a brief report to Mr. Yumkella on a present socio-economic situation in Mongolia.

Mentioning that the government of Mongolia intends to carry out a new policy on industrial policy with an aim to provide Mongolians with job places, the Premier underlined an importance of the UNIDO's assistance and aid.

In turn, Mr. Yumkella thanked the Premier for an audience, and said he plans to hold meetings with the Foreign Minister, the Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, and the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, in accordance with a visiting program. Mr. Yumkella said that the UNIDO intends to carry on the collaboration with Mongolia in ensuring a complex program of the technical cooperation.
