PRESIDENT ABOUT DINOSAUR'S MATTER

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The President Ts. Elbegdorj told Yo.Otgonbayar, the Minister of Education and Sciences, to give immediate attention to an auction of dinosaur issue, says the President's website.

International science news on "rare Tyrannosaurus Bataar skeleton would be auctioned on Sunday in NYC" raised this alarm in Mongolia because the Heritage Auction website did not name the country where the T-Rex was found. The President of Mongolia Elbegdorj instructed Yo.Otgonbayar to find all the information on the origin and route of the T-Rex fossil and to send an urgent appeal to the Heritage Auction for disclosure of this information before the Sunday auction.

If the T-Rex "uncovered in the Mongolian Gobi Desert", it would be illegal to auction the fossil and it must be returned to Mongolia, said the leader of Mongolia.

He also called the international science community to help identify the origin of the T-rex and to alert the Mongolian government of any illegal international trade of Mongolian fossils.

World media has been expressing their position over the matter. For example, the Guardian has stressed the auction should not be organized, quoting the report from the President's website. Moreover, scholars and researchers have been confirming that this fossil skeleton has been found from Mongolian Gobi desert. "Such kind of dinosaur skeleton is found only from Mongolian territory, and it is not possible pass any paleontological findings through the border without a governmental permission in accordance with the law. So, this skeleton might has been passed the Mongolian border illegally," said Dr. Mark Norell who has been doing archeological excavation in Mongolia for 22 years.

Thanks to many complaints from scientists and Mongolians, the auction has been postponed for ten days in accordance with a decision of the Court of Dallas city.
