LAW ON RELATIONS BETWEEN STATE AND RELIGION TO BE UPDATED

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ On Tuesday, the President Ts.Elbegdorj released his order to set up a working group in responsible for working out a draft new wording of the law on the relations between the state and religion.

This working group will be chaired by R.Bold, an advisor to the State Head on health, education, science, technological policy and religion affairs. It has been ordered to reflect opinions and views of scholars, citizens, believers and leaders of monasteries and civil society organizations in the draft.

The law on the relations between the state and religion was approved in 1993, but it is considered that this law should be updated because the current law has weakened to regulate the state-religion relations and activities of religious organizations in present day.

As a survey shows which has been conducted in 12 provinces and six districts of the city, 68.3 per cent of the survey's participants have considered that activities of organizations of various religions in Mongolia are disordered.
