Government Performance “Grass Roots Democracy-with its Nation” Campaign

The government of Mongolia organized a “Grass roots democracy-with its nation” campaign in order to share its four year performance with the public. During the campaign the government, embassies and related agencies reported their performance to the public and heard people’s views and opinions while answering questions from citizens. The campaign was held at the Central Square and attended by the all members of parliament. Prime Minister S.Batbold opened the campaign and gave speech.

During the speech, Premier S.Batbold introduced the government vested performances in brief. Real economic growth of Mongolia has reached 17.3 percent while in 2008 it was at 8.9 percent. The poverty rate declined to 29 percent from 2010 when it was at 39.2 percent. Mongolia has shifted to the list of countries with middle scale income from the list of low income countries. The unemployment rate has decreased to 7.7 percent, while the human development index, economic indicators and competence has improved on the international level.

The government has created the opportunity to receive the shares from the natural resource, ratified the project “100 thousand household apartment” to accommodate Mongolian citizens, started to grant loans of 6 percent interest to involve as many people as possible in the project, created 180 thousand job vacancies in last three years, initiated a railway creation project and is implementing the campaign “Healthy Child” which will cover all Mongolian children with free medical checkups and vaccinations.

The livestock population has reached 36 million heads and light industry increased by 80 percents compared with last year. The government has increased the salary of state servants and added the to pensions. Now an average salary of the state worker is 630,000 MNT and an average pension is 224,000 MNT. The government has been granting 21,000 MNT monthly to the every citizen in Mongolia from the Human Development Fund.

During S.Batbold’s and the MP’s speech at the podium, a member of the audience presented S.Batbold with a bouquet of flowers to express his gratitude to the government that he has been granted a six percent interest rate apartment loan and is moving from the ger district to live in an apartment.

During the event, representatives of embassies and government agencies provided people with related information.
