EXECUTIVE COUNCIL OF CD MEETS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The 5th meeting of the Executive Council of the Community of Democracies (CD) ran on Monday in Washington D.C.

Chaired by Mr. S.Badral, the Ambassador-at-Large to the CD, the meeting discussed two preparations--for the 4th meeting of the CD's board planned July 9-10 in Ulaanbaatar, and a conference on women's leadership to run on July 8-9 in Ulaanbaatar. In addition, Ms. Maria Leissner was allowed to launch her duties of the CD Secretary-General.

The Executive Council's meeting brought together Ms. Maria Leissner, the CD Secretary-General; Kh.Bekhbat, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the USA; Zygimantas Pavilionis, the Ambassador of Lithuania to the USA; R.Pavel, a deputy director of the International Organization Department of Poland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Tomicah Tilleman, a senior adviser for Civil Society and Emerging Democracies at the US Department of State Hillary Clinton; diplomats from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea; and officials from the Open Society Institute and the CD.
