Cops move against Mongolia student group after brawl

Police on Friday said they were initiating suo motu action against the four students from Mongolia who allegedly vandalised a restaurant in Windsor Park market area of Ghaziabad’s Indirapuram late on Thursday. The students, aged between 20 and 26 years, included three women who have student visas and are enrolled in language courses at a management institute in Noida Sector 62.

The students allegedly smashed the glass door and windows of the restaurant where they had gone for dinner. The police managed to wrest control over the situation by 10pm.

“They were drunk when they went for dinner at the restaurant. After some differences over payment with the restaurant staff, they began smashing windows and glass doors and got injured in the process. We have initiated action against the four under Section 34 of the Police Act for creating nuisance at public place,” superintendent of police SS Yadav said.

Late Thursday night, the injured students were taken to the MMG district hospital for their medical tests. One of the injured students said at the hospital that some customers at the restaurant had commented about them.

This infuriated the students and they began smashing the doors to get out as the restaurant’s doors had been closed by the staff. The officials of the Noida-based management institute said an internal inquiry was underway.

The officials said that the four students stayed in its hostel and had gone to meet some of their relatives at Delhi.
