ABOUT PREPARATORY MEETING FOR NUCLEAR WEAPON-FREE STATUS OF MONGOLIA

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The first preparatory meeting for the Third Conference of States Parties and Signatories to Treaties Establishing Nuclear Weapon-Free Zones and Mongolia was held week in Vienna, Austria.


Chaired by J.Enkhsaikhan, the Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the UN Office at Vienna, the preparatory meeting discussed issues on arranging future activities of the nuclear weapon-free nations and on a way of increasing political influence and role of the Conference that joins about 120 countries.

Representatives from the countries of the nuclear weapon-free zones and observers from the nuclear weapon holders--the USA, the Great Britain, Russia and France expressed their positions over the nuclear weapon-free status of Mongolia.

After the meeting, Mr. J. Enkhsaikhan has submitted a report on the meeting's result to the session of the Preparatory Committee for the 2015 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference that kicked on April 30 in Vienna.
