ABOUT ANNIVERSARY OF THE "KHUMUUN BICHIG" NEWSPAPER

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The “Khumuun bichig” weekly newspaper has launched several events in conjunction with its 20th anniversary in frames of the Day of National Script.

The newspaper's editorial office has organized a scientific conference about a usage of the national script, and gave the anniversary medals to those who contributed to distributing and propagandizing the Mongolian script.

Started from 1997, this year's annual contest of the Mongolian script calligraphy attracted state servants, students, pupils and ordinary people who love the national script. Traditionally, the prizes are granted either by the President, the Prime Minister or the Minister of Education, Culture and Science, so this year's winners have received the prizes from the State Head Ts.Elbegdorj.

The “Khumuun bichig” is the only newspaper in Mongolia that is published in the Mongolian national script by the MONTSAME news agency from May 10 of 1992.
