This day is a historical event not only for us but for our loyal readers as well therefore we would like to share a brief history of our newspaper.

In May 1996, Tserendorj Baldorj saw a demand for individual voice in English and started the UB Post to deliver unbiased perspectives for both Mongolians and expats. The first issue of the UB Post was published on May 8th of that year as a four page issue with journalists, Ts.Jargalsaikhan, A.Erdenebileg, and T.Battulga, who would later become editor-in chief, along with English editor Louisa Waugh, who went on to write the book ‘Hearing Birds Fly’ about Mongolia and her experiences at the UB Post.

During its first year the newspaper was printed every two weeks with just four sections, the front page, politics, domestic news, and feature/entertainment pages. Today, the UB Post has expanded and developed to become the market leader and is published three times a week with 12 pages with most interesting news, reviews and reports.

Throughout its 16-year history, the UB Post reached several notable achievements such as distributing Mongolia’s first online content in 1998 and starting an electronic subscription in 2010. It was honored as ‘Mongolia’s Best Website’ in 2004 and sponsored the ‘International Educational Exhibition’ in 2006.

In the same year the UB Post implemented the ‘Newspapers in Education’ project organizing seminars and training lessons for English teachers at local and urban elementary schools.

We would like to thank our former journalists T.Battulga, N.Oyunbayar, Ch.Sumyabazar, Ts.Jargalsaikhan, A.Erdenebileg, R.Chuluun, D.Enkhbaatar, G.Bodibilguun, A.Delgermaa, Louisa Waugh, and Kristin Tagger, sales manager J.Bolortuya and other foreign and Mongolian journalists who made priceless contributions to our newspaper.

Our staff working as one large family will strive to provide our readers with the latest and most interesting news.

Happy 1000th Edition to all UB Post readers and we wish you all the best!
