ARCHEOLOGICAL EXPEDITIONS TO BEGIN RESEARCH WORKS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Archeological Institute at the Academy of Sciences is preparing to start 18 research expeditions this year.


These expeditions will work together with groups of researchers and scholars from Russian, USA, France, Belgium, the Republic of Korea and Japan. The archeological excavation is expected to begin from May and finish in October, 2012.

The archeologists will continue works on the excavation of Khar Balgas, which was launched with Germany's expedition in 1999, and on the "Orkhon" project in Kharkhorin (1999), the "Mon-Sol" Mongolia-South Korea joint project project (1996), and a research in a place named "Duurlig Nars" in Bayan-Adarga soum, Khentii.

One of the features of the expeditions is to make excavations on old towns and settlement ruins. The previous works mainly focused on graves and tombs of aristocrats of the Hun Empire.

In addition, four expeditions will research Stone Age in Bulgan and Khentii aimags.
